In Progress .......

In late August I worked on a private commission.  The client purchased five tree images for their holiday card.  I retained the rights to use the blocks in my own prints.  One of the blocks that I cut was not used.  It was replaced with a similar, but wider tree.  I am now printing an edition using these two blocks. Two colours down and two or three to go.  It will be ready for the One of a Kind Show in November.

Up on the Ridge

I took a Renter Mentor program at Open Studio in Toronto years ago so I could learn the basics of etching.  This is one of the prints I made then based on part of the landscape on the family farm in Cape Breton. Available for sale here.

Eight Square Carpet

Late last year I started to make one of a kind prints based on carpets from my imagination. I am using my collection of 1" x 1" Hundertwasser blocks.  I like the possibilities of pattern creation using rectangles and squares.

Kabuki Crest 15

One of my recent small one of a kind print. Available here.

The central motif is a family crest belonging to an acting family from Japanese Kabuki theatre. This Edo pattern was originally printed as a souvenir for Kabuki enthusiasts. Later the design was used to decorate clothing and small personal objects. I am continuing this tradition.

Icing Glaze Vase

Back to printing West German vases - this time in black and white - and just concentrating on the textural quality of the glazes.

I like this one.  It is pretty darn cheerful with the big circles.  I think those designers had a lot of fun with their creations.

Available here.
